Camp HSS 2021

My Experiences In My First Summer Camp

Due to the COVID Pandemic from the starting of March 2020 - students were getting bored as they couldn't go out for schools, play or anything else because of the lockdown.  I was also getting restless but now I have got used with it. The days were passing of and suddenly I got to see an article printed on the newspaper. It stated the start of a summer camp organized by 'IIM - Gandhinagar. Ahmedabad and it was joinable by all students from Class 8-12. So I decided to spend my time by not just sitting but attending this camp which would also help me gain a lot of knowledge.

In the camp we were to be taught subjects outside our regular school syllabus which is a 'Brain Storming' session and organized to liven and freshen up our ideas. The camp started on 29th July Friday with first the 'Inaguration Class' followed up by the 'Origin of Thinking Lesson'. Professors from foreign like USA also taught us during this camp.

Sessions :

(Friday)

Inaguartion - DR Jaison Manjalay, Chariman of IIH Gandhinagar
Origin of Thinking -DR Frederick Coolidge, Teaches at Colorado University

(Saturday)

Human Decision Making - DR Sumitava Mukherjee. Assistant Professor
Gender And Body - Lila Matthew
Creative You - DR Sharmita Lahiri , Assistant Professor, PHd from Huston University
Prosperity, Poverty and Inequality - DR Shyam Sundar , Teaches at Yale University , USA

(Sunday)

War And Peace
Protecting the Planet - Ambika Ayudurai
Argumentation - DR Jaison Manjalay

In the 'Origin of thinking' session we were taught the history of mankind and the size of their brains- how they evolved and at what position are they now or what they might be in future.
In 'Human Decision Making' we learnt how and on which basis should we make a decision and some buisness strategies based on this.
In 'Gender and Body' we learnt what actually gender meant and how to identify someone who acts as their gender or supposed to or not.
In ' Creative You' we were taught that how everyone of us can be creative and what that word actually means.
In 'Prosperity , Poverty and Inequality' we got to know the present condition of women mostly in India and how inequality prevails till date.
In 'Argumentation' we were taught what are the good points we should put forward while arguing and how to be a good debater.
In 'Protecting The planet' we got to know several ways by which we can save our planet.

I Liked the 'Creative You' session because Sharmita mam was jolly and taught us how to enjoy studies. She was also doing fun sometimes and telling her life stories which would teach us something. She also taught us how to be creative on our own and what does it actually means.

I also liked the session 'Gender and Body' because the teacher taught in a very different manner- through movie clips which shocked me. I also enjoyed the session taking out the points of studies which we never noticed while watching a movie. She was also very gentle and taught us very nicely.

Atlast I would like to say, I enjoyed all sessions more or less. These camp was a really brain storming session for me and I would look forward to more ones like this. I got refreshed getting to learn some new things apart from our studies which would definitely benefit us in future.

FUTURE OF WORLD CUP

Will the T20 World Cup be held

The T20 World Cup which was to be held on this year has been already postponed. According to my opinion, its impossible to held the World Cup in Austarlia. It can take place in New Zealand or some other countries where COVID-19 Positives are comparitively less. We just can hope and stay tuned eagerly for the upcoming WC as its our favourite event.

NATURAL DISASTER'S EFFECTS

 Super Cyclone : 'UMPUN"

Dear viewers,
Today here I am to inform that how disastrous natural phenomenons can be. They come over a small place, but does devasting damage to those. I am here to discuss about cyclones. Before starting I want all of you to watch the link I am giving which will give you a clear idea about super cyclones.
  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmKl-VVeqT0

The above link shows a short clip on the cyclone Umpun. I know many of the areas specially in India like Punjab, there are no possibilities of cyclones. But I request them not to overlook this topic as their own brothers and sisters of India who live by the seashore are in a trouble.

Umpun is a super cyclone which came from Thailand at a speed of almost 185-200 kmph. Such dangerous it was ! It came first to India on its western coastline where Bay of Bengal lays. Orissa suffered the most. Puri, Digha etc such famous sites almost finished due to this Cyclone. Then it came to West Bengal from its north-western side.

I personally live in Howrah just beside Kolkata, capital of West Bengal and former capital of India during British rule. Kolkata just swept away! Trees fell like raindrops.. Many people were injured here and even some died due to winds or electrical wires. Many houses near Sunderban areas like 'Choto mollakhali' just flew away. Just think of the poor people who became homeless due to just a natural calamity...

It didn't stop here only !!! The cyclone subsided on 20th March midnight. But the after effects are more painful. No electricity !! Due to this there is no water as pump is not running. People are dying due to shortage of water. Now we understand water is life.. In my area current was not available almost for 72 hours. This is simply nothing. It is being heard that in many places the situation is so worse that electricity may not come for over a month. What will they do ? For this the civilians are blocking the roads in their area.

Also any electronic devices are not running because of unavailability of charge and network. Today also many couldn't make phone calls because the towers are not working properly. The situation and condition of Eastern India now is really worse.

So, I request you all not to take natural disasters lightly. Also be carefull of Covid-19.

AVENGERS- ENDGAME REVIEW

MARVEL's last movie till date

So, today is 17th May 2020, the last day of the third time announced 'Lockdown'. At 12'o clock today in the noon the movie 'AVENGERS- ENDGAME' was displayed in Hindi on Star Gold. I sat down to watch it. Now, I'm going to tell what this movie is actually about.

In the first it was shown that slowly all the Avengers Reassembled to bring back their already dead partners who died 5 years ago specially in the movie 'AVENGERS INFINITY WAR'. Natasha, Hulk's wife and Spiderman were some of those. Hulk first transformed himself permanently, working full 18 months, into the brain of Banette, his real name and strength and body of Hulk which made him much powerful. Then he with Iron-Man made a time machine through which they planned to bring them back.

They first gathered the 6 important jewels which would help them in their mission. They made an artificial hand with it. Thor insisted to wear it but due to his bad health he but Hulk was chosen. After fighting for a long time for using that hand he lost and his right hand had worsen. Then with that hand they transported them in the past where they brought Spiderman, Natasha, Dr Strange and some more. They started fighting with Thanos, the main villain in this movie. Actually his daughter was a spy in Avengers' team and she tried to steal the hand from 'Hawk Eye' but died doing that.

Captain America, Iron Man and Thor first started fighting with Thanos. But he was much powerful and they couldn't defeat him and in this fight Capt. America's shield broke down. And after he got that hand he almost became immortal. Then came the twist ! The last Avenger to come there 'Captain Marvel' came and put up a brave fight against Thanos, she succeeded in getting that hand from him but lost her life there.

Then at the last point Iron Man put that hand into use and defeated Thanos but couldn't bear the shock and his heartbeat started getting slower. At last Tony Stark, Iron man's real name in the series took in the last breathe of his life. And in this chaos Natasha, who was supposed to be brought from past again got lost and couldn't get there at that time. They returned with the rest in the real world.

In the last part of the movie its shown that the Avengers pay their respect to the 'Superheroes' who lost their lives in their mission. Then Hulk alone told Capt America to return the 6 jewels in the past. He went but when didn't returned they got tensed but Hulk was telling the system was all right. Then one of his friends identifies Capt America. But to their uttermost surprise he got very old. On asked he told that he returned his body according to his age (92) and gifted his most precious shield to that friend. Here the movie ends.

We can understand that Tony Stark was killed because he was unwilling to continue anymore with Marvel Avengers as Iron-Man. But why did Natasha vanished, Captain Marvel died and Capt. America became old? We can except he will discontinue from Avengers as he can't continue at this age. However we hope that we will get these answers in the next series of movies of 'AVENGERS'.This is really an exciting, thrilling and good movie and you must see it.

LOCKDOWN ENJOYMENT

  Autobiography
 of a mask

I am a N95 mask lying in the shop 'Jain Sons & Co.'. The shop is under a strict but honest man, Raghav. I am green in color with some yellow marks, have three tight layers and I have a price tag of '$ 24' or Rupees '1799' hanging from my right ear. I also have a friend who looks just like me but his quality is much better than of me..

One morning when I was a bit drowsy, I heard the news of the dangerous 'COVID-19' outbreak in India and people are asked to buy masks for getting themselves protected from this disease. My friend was overjoyed because now he would be sold and will be taken much care which he often thought he deserved. But I was sad as I couldn't be happy about the dangerous virus which 'MOTHER INDIA' was fighting. After all, country is more important than anything or rather anyone, even our parents.

Surprisingly within a couple of minutes a beautiful woman bought my friend. He smiled and bade me goodbye. I was spellbound ! How my best friend could be so happy for our partition ? Invisible tar ran out my eyes to the cheeks but what could I do ?

After a few days a couple with there 6-year old baby girl came to our shop. I came to know that they had come here to get a mask for their girl, whose name was Rajni. Finally after going through many masks, they chose me. Rajni was a cute girl. She wore me with her gentle hands. I bade my last farewell to my house which had given me shelter for almost a year and half.

Rajni took much care of me. She was a responsible girl and wore me everytime she went out. As I venture out I see that cruel coronavirus roaming in air. I try my best to stop them. But, why can't humans see them ? I also wonder the source of coronavirus. Rajni, after entering home carefully washes and irons me and keeps me in her drawer safely. I love my new home and also my new owner cum friend.

But my happiness didn't last long. One day after Rajni came back she suddenly started coughing. Her parents told that she had fever and Rajni assumed her shortness of breath. I saw veins of scarness on her parents' face. I was still on her mouth. Her parents in that state took us to the Belaghata ID Hospital.

After a day of examination , the doctor told tht Rajni was affected by Coronavirus. I couldn't believe my ears ! Coronavirus ! That cruel coronavirus affected Rajni also ? I was feeling guilty as because of irresponsibility of letting that virus effect her. I was lying just beside her. Now what could happen ?

Four days passed out. Rajni hasn't even opened her eyes for once. The doctor came with, a paper and signed it. Then he gave that to Rajni's parents. Her mother started crying and fainted. I couldn't understand what was happening. Someone please tell me. At last I heard the doctor saying, "Sorry, Rajni is no more ! We gave our best but couldn't save her....." DEAD ! What nonsense ? Rajni is dead ? My new friend is also dead and left me alone. Slowly, I realized that happiness can't bear me. I'm destinied to be sad and lonely.

After sometime a nurse wearing gloves picked me up and threw me in a transparent covered roadside dustbin. Just then I saw my old friend with me in my previous home. But to my uttermost surprise he didn't even looked at me.What's going on ? He was looking very happy with that young lady. I can't bear this anymore..

Suddenly the atmosphere was getting darker. I was feeling that I've a severe pain in my head and chest. My heart and hands is stopping its work. My head is being shrouded with dark clouds. After that I know no more !

* This is just an imagination. Please obey the lockdown rules.
* Stay home, Stay safe !

THE HISTORICAL TEST MATCH OF INDIA

First Test played with Pink ball in India

Indian Test cricket entered a new phase with the income of Pink SG ball at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
First let us know the history of Pink ball about where it is made, how many tests have been played with it etc.?

Pink SG ball was made in Mirat, Uttar Pradesh.  About 70 balls were sent to BCCI from there. Till now 11 test matches have been played with Pink ball but it is the first match that has been played with Pink SG ball. The others have been played with either Kookabura or Duke ball. Australia is the most successful team who has won 5 Day & Night Test matches and till now is undefeated. The main difference between Red SG ball and Pink SG ball is that the seam of the Red ball is white and lasts for a shorter time but the later one is of black seam and lasts for a longer time.

The match was played between 22 - 26 November, 2019 between India and Bangladesh. Many famous faces like Sekh Hasina ( Prime Minister of Bangladesh), Mamata Banerjee ( Chief Minister of Bengal), Sourav Ganguly  ( BCCI President) and Sachin Tendulkar, Dilip Bengsarkar, Harbhajan Singh, Rahul Dravid, VVS Lakshman, Kapil Dev ( Ex Cricketers and Captains of the Indian Team) were present in these awesome moments.

Not much could be said about the match. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first.
They were finished within 106 in 30.3 overs being Shadman Islam (29) the highest scorer and Ishant Sharma ( 5-22) being the best bowler. Then India came to bat. They put a huge total of 347-9 in 89.4 overs. The top scorers were Cheteshwar Pujara (55), Virat Kohli (136) and Ajinkya Rahane (51). From Bangladesh Al Amin Hossain (3-85) and Ebadot Hossain (3-91) fared partially.

In the second innings Bangladesh crumbled down in 195 losing by an innings and 46 runs. Their best player Mushfiqur Rahim tried to put up a fight (74) but couldn't stand against Umesh Yadav (5-53) and Ishant Sharma (4-56)who also bagged the Man of the Match and also the Man of the Series by achieving 9 wkts.

The match depicted that how a one-sided match is played. But with this India got ready and acquired confidence for the upcoming Day & Night Test matches.

With this I am ending. Stay tuned for further updates.

THE BEST MATCH OF MY LIFE

THE GREATEST PARTNERSHIP RECORDED IN MY MIND

It was a Sunday. For that reason our teacher organized a match in Uttarpara Government Cricket Academy. The match was between The Juniors facing off The Seniors. We were overconfident and easy-going. Our captain Chris Singh won the toss and opted to bat. Golokenda Das was the name of the opposing captain. But our prediction proved to be a great mistake.

The first over Surjo, their expected main bowler and a genuine fast bowler bowled a maiden against our captain, Chris. He got frustrated as was not getting to connect the ball with his bat. Second over, came Soham, a medium slow bowler and not very effective. But to all our surprise he proved cheap, conceded only a wide and took the wicket of Sayon. The score was now 1-2 (2). The lights were now on Chris as what he would do when he faces against Ayush who is the fastest bowler in our U-12 group.  Lo and Behold! The first ball was a dot. Next 3 balls saw the fall of the 3 said main batsman of the Senior Team- Chris, Arjun and Piyush. Ayush and the others were overjoyed as he got a hat-trick and moreover the score was now 1-4(2.4).

I was at 6th down as there was a personal war against me and Chris as I had defeated him 12 times out of 13. That’s why out of his jealousy and his anger against me was the main cause of mine batting at 6th down and my best friend on 9th.

But who thought that there would be some more wickets falling off. The score was at present    9-7(4) Aryan, Debangshu and Vabhia got to the pavilion cheaply. Now Chris and others had almost lost hope. But they forgot that I and Shashwat, my 2nd best friend are still on the crease. When he had hit some big hits they understood their mistake. Chris, who is usually a regular opponent of mine now started supporting us.

We didn’t upset our team. When I got out only by a single moment of diverted concentration, my run was 52 and Shashwat’s 32*. We have built a strong partnership of 81 runs and when I was in pavilion our score was 93-8(14). Our total score was 98 all out and Shashwat was 37*. All congratulated us. I just can’t believe now also as how The Juniors could do such a disaster to our batting line up.

Now our expected things started to happen. The Juniors got out only in 53 runs. Chris got 1 wkt, Vabhia got none. I got 3-6(3) and Shashwat 2-9(1). Expectedly I was the Man Of The Match. That historical match still refreshes my mind.

AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A CRICKETER

THE STORY OF A CRICKETER’S LIFE

Riddhwimaan was a simple boy. He liked cricket from the core of his heart. He went to Uttarpara Government Coaching Center. All went well. He was playing fine, was made captain 15 times, had 978 runs in 53 matches with an average of almost 15.60 and a strike rate of up to 80. Riddhwi was an all rounder , was a medium fast pacer, got 103 wickets in 53 matches with a BBI of 4-06 (3). But one Sunday Riddhwimaan’s teacher Pradip Sir didn’t came. So, the head of the coaching center, Tanmay Sir asked the 7-8 student who came from the U-12 group to play with the big guys. And now the real story begins. Something happened which changed Riddhwimaan’s life for the best. And the match begun. Riddhwimaan’s team batted first. Not a single junior got batting as the worthless captain thought that the juniors were not capable to play with them. But his team scored 114-7 (15). Riddhwi was least interested in all that. But he didn’t lose hope. He was continuously asking the seniors for bowling. But they didn’t care. When Riddhwi asked for the 8th time then a seniormost player, Rahul got irritated. He shouted at Riddhwi and said something which is not utterable. Riddhwi, angry, sad, depressed and annoyed went home with his mother. He didn’t say anything to his parents but decided himself that he would take revenge from Rahul and all of the seniors by his cricket. The next 5 years was the golden period for Riddhwimaan’s life. He played just marvelously and was promoted to the 5th seniormost player in the whole academy. But ahead of him was Rahul, Sapru, Partha Pratim and Manan. Those 4 had once underestimated Riddhwi when he had played for their team 5 years back. Riddhwimaan was an experienced player now as he had already played 46 matches in CAB, had 240 runs with an average touching 40. Also he had taken 69 wickets for his team. But Rahul and the rest were ahead of Riddhwi. Although Riddhwimaan didn’t lose hope. He continued to play with full determination. And now the climax comes. Lets see what happens. And now the most awaited moment comes! The Ranji Trophy selection! With utter surprise Rahul and Riddhwimaan were selected for the trial. Now Riddhwi could take his revenge from Rahul. He had waited for 5 years for this day. Only one will be selected from two. The trial started. Both were getting together. It was looking that two twins were competing. Both had same capabilities. Now it was a tough decision. The Bengal Coach now took a strong step. He first asked both of them to ball and hit only one stump. The man who hits the stump the most number of times will be the winner of this round. Rahul hit the stump 3 times. Riddhwi also did the same. Now the batting round came. The objective was to take 15 runs from a over. Rahul failed this time. He could make only 13 runs. Now! It was a big pressure for Riddhwi. If he made 15 runs he would be selected. If not his dreams would break for a year. He padded up and came to bat. First ball he took a double. Second ball, only a single. Pressure was growing. Lo and behold! Next ball was a boundary. Now it was 8 from 3. But the next 2 ball Riddhwi got two singles. Last ball ! Riddhwi needs a six. The ball was on the leg and was of full length. And, And Riddhwi got six runs. He was selected for the Bengal Ranji Team. Rahul fell on the ground and started crying. And it was Riddhwi who comforted it. Rahul felt sorry and apologized for his behavior 5 years back. He understood his mistake. Now they again became friends. All of the academy wished Riddhwi for the Ranji Trophy. Now Riddhwimaan was happy as he had taken his revenge.
